Covid-19 vaccine | The European Commission and AstraZeneca reach an agreement

Simont Braun is pleased to announce that the European Commission (EC) and AstraZeneca have reached an agreement that will secure the delivery of the remaining COVID-19 vaccine doses to the Member States.

This agreement also ends the pending litigation before the Brussels Court of First Instance, where Simont Braun represented the EC.

Simont Braun assisted the EC in the negotiations with AstraZeneca, which led to the conclusion of this settlement providing for AstraZeneca’s firm commitment to deliver, in addition to the 100 million doses supplied until the end of Q2, 135 million doses by the end of 2021, and the remaining doses (65 million) by the end of March 2022.

This will bring the total number of doses delivered by AstraZeneca to 300 million as agreed under the Advance Purchase Agreement concluded by the parties in August 2020.

Simont Braun is delighted to have assisted the European Commission and the 27 Member States in this crucial matter.
