Cédric Henet
Cédric Henet specialises in Belgian and EU economic, energy and environmental law.
He advises public authorities and private companies – particularly in the energy and real estate sectors – on a broad range of matters, including energy regulations and contracts, commercial agreements, environmental permitting, climate regulation, soil pollution and related civil liability, waste management, and anti-greenwashing rules. He assists clients in navigating complex regulatory frameworks and represents them in both administrative and judicial proceedings.
Cédric is a lecturer (‘Maître de conférence invité’) and a researcher at UCLouvain, where he teaches sustainability law and EU economic law, including internal market and competition law. His academic work focuses on emerging corporate sustainability rules, economic freedoms, and their interaction with the European Union’s environmental objectives.
In January 2024, Cédric was invited by the Belgian Parliament to provide expert testimony on the compatibility of a proposed human rights-driven trade restrictive measure with EU internal market law.
Cédric is an active member of several professional organisations, including the Association Internationale de Droit Economique (AIDE), the European Society of International Law (ESIL) , and the Society of International Economic Law (SIEL). Additionally, he contributes to the Environmental Commission of the Belgian Human Rights League (LDH), focusing on corporate environmental claims and greenwashing risks in the energy sector.
