Cédric Henet
Cédric specialises in EU and public law, with a focus on environmental and sustainability law.
He advises public authorities and private companies, particularly in the energy and real estate sectors, on a wide range of issues, including energy regulations and contracts, environmental permits, climate regulations, soil pollution, waste management, environmental due diligence and liabilities, greenwashing and ‘green claims’, and sustainability reporting. Cédric helps clients navigate complex legal challenges and represents them in both administrative and judicial proceedings.
He is a lecturer (‘Maître de conférence invité’) and a researcher at UCLouvain, where he teaches sustainability law and EU economic law, including internal market and competition law. His academic work and teaching focus on emerging corporate sustainability rules, economic freedoms, and their interaction with the European Union’s environmental objectives.
In January 2024, Cédric was invited by the Belgian Parliament to provide expert testimony on the compatibility of a proposed human rights-driven trade restrictive measure with EU internal market law.
Cédric is an active member of several professional organisations, including the Association Internationale de Droit Economique (AIDE), the European Society of International Law (ESIL) , and the Society of International Economic Law (SIEL). Additionally, he contributes to the Environmental Commission of the Belgian Human Rights League (LDH), focusing on corporate environmental claims and greenwashing risks in the energy sector.
