Joris Beckers is a specialist in real estate transactions. He assists and advises real estate developers and investors throughout the different phases of the real estate cycle, ranging from the structuring of real estate (re)developments and investments, the acquisition of real estate (including real property rights such as, usufruct, long lease, right to build), the drafting of occupancy related contracts (lease, disposal, temporary occupancy), advisory work on the full range of contractual issues and the sale of real estate.

Furthermore, Joris also focusses on ESG and, in particular, the impact of the rapidly increasing volume of legislation concerning sustainability, both on a federal and regional level, on the different actors in the real estate sector.

Joris also represents clients both in court and arbitration proceedings in Belgium.

In addition to his real estate expertise, Joris also has a significant background in commercial contracts, with a particular focus on distribution, franchising and unfair market practices.

Joris is also a part-time teaching assistant at the law faculty of the University of Leuven (KUL).
